With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sören Tunberg prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Julio Vera was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Mikael Liberatore showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 28 minute of play. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Sören Tunberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.
