Edgar Åström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to The Swedish Nightmare getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Jan-Olof Nordlund hit a great ball. In the 8th minute, Hjalmar Backlund reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Julio Vera. The goal made the score 1-0. Marcin Zajac hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 17th minute of play forced The Swedish Nightmare's goalkeeper Edgar Åström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 21 minutes into the game, Hjalmar Backlund recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Julio Vera. Hjalmar Backlund showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Hjalmar Backlund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Hjalmar Backlunds short, quick shot in the 31stth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Hjalmar Backlund might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hjalmar Backlund ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hjalmar Backlund in the 38th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 41st minute of the match Ahmed Ouadah sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. Alexander Nordgren hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. After 46 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Primitivo Andino. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The Swedish Nightmare made a substitution. Karl Hammarbäck replaced Alexander Nordgren. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hjalmar Backlund stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Camilo Gisbert hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hjalmar Backlund in the 60th minute of play. Edgar Åström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luis Andino in the 62nd minute. Agustín Saelices hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Camilo Gisbert's late challenge caught a The Swedish Nightmare's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camilo Gisbert helped the player get up and apologised. In the 64th minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hjalmar Backlund, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 67th minute of the match The Swedish Nightmare got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ahmed Ouadah ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on The Swedish Nightmare's corner Ahmed Ouadah fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hjalmar Backlund in the 73rd minute of play. Hjalmar Backlund kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. The Swedish Nightmare's Jorginho Meirelles was substituted for Hjalmar Backlund. After a rather tough play, The Swedish Nightmare's Hjalmar Backlund got a free kick in the 79th minute. Edgar Åström made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Agustín Saelices sent off a good shot on target. After 82 minutes The Swedish Nightmare's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that The Swedish Nightmare's Edgar Åström managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 90th minute Jörgen Linquist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jörgen Linquist in the 93rd minute of play. A collision led to The Swedish Nightmare getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Karl Hammarbäck hit a great ball. Jorginho Meirelles struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Swedish Nightmare.
