Ricardo Zorita came out and tried to block the shot, but Alberto Usuriaga slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 15th minute. John Carew could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Ricardo Zorita made a huge save. Moises Fernandino kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. In the 20th match minute, El Salvador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valentino Ferrant to maneuver through the defense. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaroslaw Kaczynski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. El Salvador's Joshua Curbelo quite brazenly broke a throw-in by John Carew, made in the 31st minute of the game. Felix Fanøe came free with the goalkeeper in the 45th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ricardo Zorita could save by the left post. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Moises Fernandino to strike the kick off in the second half.
