After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Moises Fernandino got a free kick in the 16th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maelgwn Le Meur got free with Ricardo Zorita in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Damien César kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Mateo Leguizamo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 21st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pierre-Henri Oudard. In the 29th minute Moises Fernandino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pierre-Henri Oudard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Abram Luque hit a great ball. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maelgwn Le Meur in the 31st minute of play. After 40 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Lorenzo Yepes. Jean-Sébastien Manin, 40 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
