The RB Chubut fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Robert Vassenius should have stopped the shot. 44 minutes into the game, Valentin Baristo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. RB Chubut's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. The supporters of Ecuador booed when RB Chubut was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valentin Baristo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 45 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

RB Chubut made a substitution. Isaac Mingo replaced Justino Heli. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cristian Sancho was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Ecuador booed when RB Chubut was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ezequiel Rutenio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Andrézinho Pelé had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Andrézinho Pelé fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Daniel Zorita hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Lázaro Quico struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RB Chubut.
