After a defensive mix-up in Charthals FC's zone, Antonio Hrste stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bogdan Lobonț came out of the goal and Antonio Hrste tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Danijel Petrlin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bogdan Lobonț read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. In the 7th minute Maksimir were awarded a corner. Adam Dodaj went to the cornerflag to take it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kaan Tecimen got free with Antonio Križanec in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Danijel Petrlin in the 13th minute of play forced Charthals FC's goalkeeper Bogdan Lobonț to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute of the match Maksimir got a corner. Charthals FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Adam Dodaj ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Maksimir's Adam Dodaj to fire away a dangerous shot which Bogdan Lobonț despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Bogdan Lobonț showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danijel Petrlin, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Danijel Petrlin in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bogdan Lobonț saved Charthals FC from getting behind. Bogdan Lobonț made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antonio Hrste in the 32nd minute of play. Antonio Hrste took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bogdan Lobonț. Bogdan Lobonț dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Bogdan Lobonț made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danijel Petrlin in the 36th minute of play. Danijel Petrlin struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Bogdan Lobonț didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Maksimir. An unexpectedly hard shot by Danijel Petrlin in the 43rd minute of play forced Charthals FC's goalkeeper Bogdan Lobonț to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bogdan Lobonț showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danijel Petrlin, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. In the 46th minute, Danijel Petrlin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bogdan Lobonț was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After the first half Maksimir were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Danijel Petrlin was the one to do the kick off. Bogdan Lobonț showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Danijel Petrlin in the 52nd minute of the match. If Danijel Petrlin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Charthals FC's Bogdan Lobonț got control of the ball when Mauro Jurišić tried to sneak it across the goal line. 59 minutes had been played when some careless play by Charthals FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Adam Dodaj was slow to take the kick. During this time Maksimir's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Maksimir's Adam Dodaj to fire away a dangerous shot which Bogdan Lobonț despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Charthals FC's Bogdan Lobonț played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danijel Petrlin in the 64th minute of play. 65 minutes into the game, Gencay Sunullah threw the ball into play from the sideline. Maksimir's Gradimir Antonić quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Maksimir made a substitution. Adrijan Grbović replaced Danijel Petrlin. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Maksimir eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
