A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. Julio Vera had great luck who in the 12thth minute grab hold of the ball when Ciro Di Marzio from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. 13 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jaime Egaña was slow to take the kick. During this time Hala Madrid Iraki FC's players had a chance to rest. Hala Madrid Iraki FC's Jaime Egaña was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 18 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ruben Montez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ruben Montez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Ciro Di Marzio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Ciro Di Marzio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 55th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. The supporters of Hala Madrid Iraki FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Ruben Montez in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Primitivo Andino made in the 63rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Hala Madrid Iraki FC's Jaime Egaña. Daniel Zorita in the 65thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ruben Montez, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 68 minutes into the match, Hala Madrid Iraki FC's Ciro Di Marzio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Camilo Gisbert got a free kick in the 78th minute. Ruben Montez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 81st minute. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Ruben Montez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 87 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Raul Ibar came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
