When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Kurt van der Laan put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan de Vlieger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 18th minute of the match Julias Rascals Apeldoorn got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Emiliano Caiola ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 20th minute Jan de Vlieger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 21st minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 27 minutes Julias Rascals Apeldoorn's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ralph Roeles in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan de Vlieger in the 31st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jan de Vlieger took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Julias Rascals Apeldoorn's goalkeeper Ralph Roeles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Julias Rascals Apeldoorn's Jan de Vlieger in the 36th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Julio Vera was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Ecuador through an amazing save. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The wind increased when Kurt van der Laan made the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 54th play minute Cristian Sancho came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Ralph Roeles. 2-1. 60 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Emiliano Caiola came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 62nd minute, Julias Rascals Apeldoorn's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ralph Roeles quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Ralph Roeles made a huge save. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julias Rascals Apeldoorn's Ralph Roeles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Julias Rascals Apeldoorn from getting a goal against them. Ralph Roeles didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Juan Sebastián Puig went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. 74 minutes into the game, Felix Montes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Julias Rascals Apeldoorn the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ecuador fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 74th minute. Penalty! Julio Vera had in the 75thth minute some difficulties stopping Emiliano Caiola's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 76th minute, Luis Andino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julias Rascals Apeldoorn's Ralph Roeles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Julias Rascals Apeldoorn from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Julias Rascals Apeldoorn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Johan Saveneij didn't get a good kick on the ball. 88 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ralph Roeles made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. The Julias Rascals Apeldoorn fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
