After a defensive mix-up in Honduras's zone, Chicão Amorim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lautaro Navarro came out of the goal and Chicão Amorim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 41 minutes, Sandrinho Hoffmann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Estrela Solitária's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sandrinho Hoffmann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Estrela Solitária's attentive Pedro Luiz Ferreira managed to snatch the ball when Ivan Navarro made a throw-in in the 43rd minute of the game. Lautaro Navarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandrinho Hoffmann in the 45th minute of the match. Esteban Carvallo's late challenge caught a Estrela Solitária's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Esteban Carvallo helped the player get up and apologised. Estrela Solitária's Gerd Müller was substituted for Sandrinho Hoffmann. Chicão Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edmundo Espiga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 78th minute, Gerd Müller ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lautaro Navarro was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-0. Benjamim Dante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Lautaro Navarro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerd Müller in the 87th minute of play. Gil Travassos made in the 99th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Honduras's Emanuel Ocampo.
