Jens-Åke Källberg didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Julian Murillo went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Milagros Fraga in the 35th minute of play forced Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jens-Åke Källberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peru were awarded a corner in the 36th minute after Boca Juniors's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Boca Juniors's goalie and right to Alonso Berganza. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Boca Juniors's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar Lindholm in the 44th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Peru's Joaquin Prats got a free kick in the 45th minute. The supporters of Peru booed when Boca Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dimitris Panagiotakis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Boca Juniors made a substitution. Harry Hedling replaced Dimitris Panagiotakis. Boca Juniors's Jan Höijer was substituted for Edvard Dusett. Boca Juniors's Özkan Kayaer was substituted for Oscar Lindholm. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Torgny Landin in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 55th minute Boca Juniors were awarded a corner. Rickard Löfgren went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 64th minute, Torgny Landin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Boca Juniors fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Alonso Berganza kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. 68 minutes into the match, Julian Murillo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jens-Åke Källberg. Boca Juniors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Julian Murillo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Boca Juniors's Jens-Åke Källberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save Boca Juniors from getting a goal against them. Peru's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luz Tejedor in the 75th minute. In the 79th minute, Torgny Landin made a precise shot to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. A throw-in in the 81st minute of the game was made by Rickard Löfgren with Münir Salih as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Julian Murillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Torgny Landin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boca Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Torgny Landin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rolando Noboa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A sloppy throw-in by Eliseo Alcocer in the 96th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Boca Juniors's Harry Hedling. In the 98thth minute of the game Torgny Landin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Peru's Rolando Noboa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Peru had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
