Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amerigo Egger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 3 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Amerigo Egger came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Modesto Oakley didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joel Gaona went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The long shot by Róbert Szepes in the 13th minute really tested Dante Lacasa's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The supporters of Lilywhites booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Macos Graciani didn't get a good kick on the ball. 17 minutes into the match, Cosimo Michelini had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cosimo Michelini was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Modesto Oakley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 22nd minute of the match. Mexico's defense didn't have a chance, in the 25th minute, when Amerigo Egger scored to the left of an out of position Dante Lacasa, making the score, 2-1. Modesto Oakley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Modesto Oakley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 29th minute of the match. Lilywhites's Modesto Oakley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 32nd minute of play. The corner led Mexico's Joel Gaona to fire away a dangerous shot which Modesto Oakley despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Róbert Szepes's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dante Lacasa firmly grabbed it by the left post. With 44 minutes on the clock, Francisco Loaisa commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 44 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Lilywhites! Joel Gaona placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out!

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ermanno Baratta made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Mexico's Joel Gaona sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Modesto Oakley narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alberto Tafalla received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Modesto Oakley came out and tried to block the shot, but Alberto Tafalla slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 66th minute. Modesto Oakley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Modesto Oakley having to interfere. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 74th minute after Lilywhites's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. Luca Zorita made a great header on Mexico's corner, it was just that Lilywhites's Modesto Oakley managed to reach the ball for a save. 75 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Ermanno Baratta came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Modesto Oakley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Tafalla got free with Modesto Oakley in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 88 played minutes Lilywhites got a freekick which was hit by Marcos Elequemedo. In the 94th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Modesto Oakley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Mexico eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
