After 3 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jan de Vlieger who took care of the corner kick. Julias Rascals Apeldoorn's Jan de Vlieger was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A collision led to Julias Rascals Apeldoorn getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Emiliano Caiola hit a great ball. In the 5th match minute, Julias Rascals Apeldoorn was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dries Muskee to maneuver through the defense. Ralph Roeles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. 12 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ralph Roeles. Julias Rascals Apeldoorn's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 17th minute, Felix Montes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Zebastian Bergfeldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. 21 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jan de Vlieger. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ralph Roeles. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jan de Vlieger was the one to do the kick off. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Julias Rascals Apeldoorn's Emiliano Caiola got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 54th minute Jan de Vlieger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ralph Roeles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan de Vlieger in the 58th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Johan Saveneij kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ralph Roeles. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Ralph Roeles made a huge save. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julias Rascals Apeldoorn made a substitution. Kurt van der Laan replaced Zebastian Bergfeldt. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 70 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ralph Roeles narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 71 minutes had been played when some careless play by Julias Rascals Apeldoorn's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. A collision led to Julias Rascals Apeldoorn getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Bengt Petersson hit a great ball. After 75 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. Ralph Roeles made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 82nd match minute, Julias Rascals Apeldoorn was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bengt Petersson to maneuver through the defense. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Andino to maneuver through the defense. In the 90th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. In the 91st minute, Kurt van der Laan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Ralph Roeles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
