The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Alexander Bottone made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in A.S. Udinese's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alvaro Rotili came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexander Bottone, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Fortunato Angelucci hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. A.S. Udinese's attentive Alexander Damiani managed to snatch the ball when Salvador Gisbert made a throw-in in the 14th minute of the game. In the 17th minute, Alex Chicote hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, A.S. Udinese's Olivér Bierhoff got a free kick in the 22nd minute. 26 minutes into the game, Alexander Damiani threw the ball into play from the sideline. Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. A.S. Udinese's Alexander Bottone was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 27th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Alexander Damiani made in the 36th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas. Alvaro Rotili made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 37th minute of play. After a rather tough play, A.S. Udinese's Olivér Bierhoff got a free kick in the 38th minute. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alexander Bottone showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 41 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

After 51 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gaos. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexander Bottone in the 53rd minute of the match. The corner ended in Augusto Clemente almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant did a great save. Alex Chicote hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Cristiano Paolucci stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Cristiano Paolucci tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, A.S. Udinese's Bruno Maranzano got a free kick in the 61st minute. 66 minutes into the match, A.S. Udinese's Alexander Bottone sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alexander Bottone's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. A.S. Udinese made a substitution. Ercole Fiorentino replaced Alexander Bottone. After 70 minutes Venezuela's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Cristiano Paolucci who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Alberigo Di Franco heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Ercole Fiorentino scored 4-0 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alvaro Rotili having to interfere. In the 84th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Chicote to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 87th minute. Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Bruno Maranzano in the 91 minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ercole Fiorentino in the 95th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Venezuela players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for A.S. Udinese.
