In the 25th minute, Guillaume Chaine ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dante Lacasa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Valette Stars's Adrien Tanneau played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 34th minute of play. Valette Stars's attentive Mathys Chassot managed to snatch the ball when Leonardo Leoz made a throw-in in the 35th minute of the game. In the 36th minute, Guillaume Chaine reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Dante Lacasa. The goal made the score 2-2. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guillaume Chaine, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrien Tanneau having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Valette Stars's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 92nd minute of the game. One of Mexico:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Valette Stars:s goal. Many of Mexico's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Mexico may have spent more time on the ball, but Valette Stars were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
