After the first half Poland were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The Northern Ireland fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ray Folwill should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Tadeusz Raschke's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ray Folwill was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game.
