The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Alexander Carballo a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alexander Carballo got a free kick in the 4th minute. In the 5th minute, Adrianinho Sabóia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hugo Barreto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 11th minute, Maxaranguape - FSCMZ's Hugo Cunha dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Tasis in the 14th minute of play forced Maxaranguape - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Cléber Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Maxaranguape - FSCMZ booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Axel Tasis didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Hugo Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maxaranguape - FSCMZ's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugo Cunha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Hugo Cunha kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benito Sanz. That made the score 2-0 in the 18 minute of play. Robbie Lefevere fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Cléber Souza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Axel Tasis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Hugo Cunha sent off a good shot on target. After 28 minutes, Arí Paiva made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Hugo Barreto might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hugo Barreto ran back to his position shaking his head. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arí Paiva in the 32nd minute of play. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Maxaranguape - FSCMZ's Arí Paiva. But to his dismay, Arí Paiva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dráuzio Moreno in the 36th minute. In the 39th minute, Costa Rica's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Hugo Cunha fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Hugo Cunha tried to sneak it across the goal line. 43 minutes into the match, Arí Paiva notched a goal, 6-0, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arí Paiva stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a free kick in the 50th minute. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugo Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. After having played for 55 minutes, Hugo Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maxaranguape - FSCMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hugo Cunha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arí Paiva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Arí Paiva's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Arí Paiva in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Hugo Cunha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Hugo Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alan Moruga's late challenge caught a Maxaranguape - FSCMZ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alan Moruga helped the player get up and apologised. After 78 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alan Moruga. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 79 minutes Costa Rica's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Arí Paiva who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Arí Paiva got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Benito Sanz quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Cunha in the 81st minute of play. In the 83rdth minute of the game Arí Paiva who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Maxaranguape - FSCMZ were awarded a corner in the 84th minute after Costa Rica's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Arí Paiva took the corner. Eliseo Noboa charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eliseo Noboa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 86th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseo Noboa to maneuver through the defense. If Hugo Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th minute Hugo Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arí Paiva succeeded in the game's 94th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 9-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Maxaranguape - FSCMZ had played much better football throughout.
