Alexander Carballo charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alexander Carballo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Umberto Nunes was the one to do the kick off. Hildeberto Passos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Costa Rica's Axel Tasis slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Joel Alén. That made the score 5-1 after 82 minutes of play. Ante Rebić charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Axel Tasis in the 95thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Joel Alén, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.
