The supporters of Ecuador booed when Sagarana Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fábio da Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 10 played minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benedito Trigo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Éder Madureira in the 12th minute of play. Éder Madureira took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Benedito Trigo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 17th minute of play forced Sagarana Clube's goalkeeper Benedito Trigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 22nd match minute, Sagarana Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fábio da Cunha to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Sagarana Clube's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benedito Trigo came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Antonio Arias kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Yu Yang Sang to strike the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Éder Madureira in the 51st minute of the match. Cristian Sancho came free with the goalkeeper in the 53rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Benedito Trigo could save by the left post. 58 minutes into the match, Sagarana Clube's goalkeeper Benedito Trigo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. In the 59th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Luis Andino got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Benedito Trigo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Cristian Sancho in the 61stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Benedito Trigo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 64 minutes Sagarana Clube's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. Sagarana Clube's Fabrício de Alcântara was substituted for Zé Roberto da Costa. Beto Heidemann kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Beto Heidemann hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Yu Yang Sang recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benedito Trigo having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Ecuador's Benedito Trigo threw himself towards the right post 82 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luis Andino, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 85th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benedito Trigo. Benedito Trigo yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruno Salles, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Benedito Trigo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 94th minute of play. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. Sagarana Clube's Serafim Barros got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Yu Yang Sang fell near the penalty area in the 97th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sagarana Clube's protests and gave Yu Yang Sang a yellow card for diving instead. In the 97th minute, Yu Yang Sang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
