Lionel Paly showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Wil 1900's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Wil 1900's goalkeeper Lionel Paly, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lionel Paly came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Rafael Gallo. But to his dismay, Rafael Gallo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-7. Lionel Paly took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael Gallo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Peru's Eliseo Mina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Georges Gladu, made in the 92nd minute of the game. When Milagros Fraga came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Milagros Fraga couldn't finish the play. Peru's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
