Sergio Rochet was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. 25 minutes into the match, The dogs's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Sergio Rochet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sergio Rochet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 27th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a free kick in the 30th minute. Sergio Rochet stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. It was a well-played corner which Felix Montes managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. If Napoleon Basaik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fikri Tekinay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Anacleto Gaizkine stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The dogs's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anacleto Gaizkine was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The The dogs fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
