Jacobo Nores was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Albino Steven showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 43 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Paraguay's zone, Jerônimo Mangueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Nores came out of the goal and Jerônimo Mangueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jerônimo Mangueira to make the kick off. When the match clock showed 52 minutes, the score became 4-0 when Albino Steven sped through Paraguay's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jacobo Nores. In the 58th minute Jerônimo Mangueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Nores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Paraguay's Alan Campos got a free kick in the 59th minute. In the 66th minute, Albino Steven got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paraguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Primitivo Escribano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mattias Casillas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jaime Pardo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Mattias Casillas made a huge save. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Corinthians Paulista was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albino Steven didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jacobo Nores dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. Corinthians Paulista's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
