In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Formentera's goalkeeper Seyhan Atlıhan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 13th minute, Tomas Berganza made a precise shot to the right of Seyhan Atlıhan. Formentera's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Abraham Alguacil struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Seyhan Atlıhan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. Marcos Cotilla yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. A collision led to Formentera getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Jan-Erik Lönn hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Formentera's zone, Isidoro Sarmiento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Seyhan Atlıhan came out of the goal and Isidoro Sarmiento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eustaquio Bartuelo was the one to do the kick off. After 52 minutes of play, Formentera's Jan-Erik Lönn made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcos Cotilla was left in no man's land by his defense there! Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eustaquio Bartuelo in the 58th minute of the match. In the 58th minute, Eustaquio Bartuelo made a precise shot to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. The Panama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cotilla should have stopped the shot. Formentera's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
