After having played for 66 minutes, Edmundo Espiga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Honduras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edmundo Espiga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lautaro Navarro came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by Inter de Melão's Fabinho Valladares. But to his dismay, Fabinho Valladares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. After 73 played minutes Inter de Melão got a freekick which was hit by Acácio Pernambucano. After 80 minutes Inter de Melão's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Edmundo Espiga who took care of the corner kick. Claudio-Paul Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmundo Espiga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fabinho Valladares charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabinho Valladares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Inter de Melão getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Fabinho Valladares hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Inter de Melão's zone, Luca Espinar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Claudio-Paul Taffarel came out of the goal and Luca Espinar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Acácio Pernambucano fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Inter de Melão's protests and gave Acácio Pernambucano a yellow card for diving instead. After 87 played minutes Inter de Melão got a freekick which was hit by Acácio Pernambucano. 95 minutes into the match, Delfim Paraense had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lautaro Navarro. Honduras's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Delfim Paraense was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Inter de Melão fans cheered their team off the field, for while Honduras had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
