In the 44th minute Flavio Cifuentes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastian Hellkvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Éric Cantona in the 46th minute of play forced Taltum FC's goalkeeper Zhang Hao Qing to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zhang Hao Qing made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Jakub Ziombkowski sent off a good shot on target. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Inter de Guayaquil FC made a substitution. Jörn Svartengren replaced Jakub Ziombkowski. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Flavio Cifuentes made a kick off. Celso Inguma hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Roldan Castellanos charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roldan Castellanos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when Taltum FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roldan Castellanos didn't get a good kick on the ball.
