Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) An unexpected shot in the 5th minute by Pelle Klintæus got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tord Jansson in the 7th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Tord Jansson took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Benito Sanz to make any attempt to save it. 12 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but Sixten Ek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tord Jansson, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Tord Jansson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Pelle Klintæus sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tord Jansson in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jesper Trillkott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Niclas Strömberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Niclas Strömberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pelle Klintæus got free with Benito Sanz in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 31 minutes into the match, Pelle Klintæus had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pelle Klintæus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Karl-Johan Sundén stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Karl-Johan Sundén tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 45th minute, Hammarby IF's Tord Jansson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Eliseo Noboa hit a great ball. 55 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's goalkeeper Sixten Ek had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Puig. After having played for 57 minutes, Lautaro Puig managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Puig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sixten Ek was a little too slow when Eliseo Noboa got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 59th minute. The score was now 4-2. When Pelle Klintæus came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Hammarby IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pelle Klintæus couldn't finish the play. Eliseo Noboa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sixten Ek read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. Axel Tasis made a great header on Costa Rica's corner, it was just that Hammarby IF's Sixten Ek managed to reach the ball for a save. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Axel Tasis got a free kick in the 73rd minute. In the 81st minute of the match, Axel Tasis got a very nice opportunity to score, but Sixten Ek was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 83 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Tord Jansson came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tord Jansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee gave Hammarby IF a penalty, 89 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Tord Jansson, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. 7-2. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pelle Klintæus in the 95th minute of play. Tord Jansson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
