To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raphael Cunha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vinicio Junior received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. After 27 minutes, Raphael Cunha mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jenipapo SC and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 27 played minutes Jenipapo SC got a freekick which was hit by Raphael Cunha. David Seaman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 30th minute of play. After 31 minutes Jenipapo SC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Arsenio Gipuzkoa thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished David Seaman, a very annoying self made goal in the 31st minute which led to 1-1. After 37 minutes, Aníbal Alagoano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jenipapo SC and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Aníbal Alagoano hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. After 38 minutes of play, Ecuador's Luis Andino made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. David Seaman was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 41st minute, Zé Carlos Monteiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Through an outstanding action, after 44 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aníbal Alagoano in the 45th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Jenipapo SC's David Seaman got control of the ball when Felix Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with David Seaman in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 62 minutes into the match, Jenipapo SC's goalkeeper David Seaman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Raphael Cunha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 68 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Arias. After having played for 68 minutes, Arsenio Gipuzkoa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jenipapo SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arsenio Gipuzkoa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 72 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Vinicio Junior came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Jenipapo SC's Aníbal Alagoano in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with David Seaman in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a free kick in the 92nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Jenipapo SC's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Seaman came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Jenipapo SC throughout the match.
