Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 20th minute, when D.J. Gol scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gerardo Hitz in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. 29 minutes in the game, Gerardo Hitz dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Waldemar Matorin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 33rd minute D.J. Gol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of D.J. Gol's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. The Black Rose 1979 fans' excitement grew in the 35th match minute when Black Rose 1979's D.J. Gol looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to Black Rose 1979 getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Gerardo Hitz hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Gerardo Hitz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Black Rose 1979's supporters rose to their feet, but Gerardo Hitz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 41 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montenegro. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell D.J. Gol to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, D.J. Gol managed to get in a good position for a shot. Black Rose 1979's supporters rose to their feet, but D.J. Gol was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Karl-Johan Ahlqvist in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 58thth minute tested the skills of Karl-Johan Ahlqvist when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerardo Hitz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Black Rose 1979's Karl-Johan Ahlqvist proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save Black Rose 1979 from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Karl-Johan Ahlqvist in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Black Rose 1979's Karl-Johan Ahlqvist proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Black Rose 1979 from getting a goal against them. D.J. Gol's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. When Black Rose 1979's Gerardo Hitz in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. The Black Rose 1979 players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
