The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marshall Graham helped the player get up and apologised. Bruno Barrett acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 5th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Juan Ignacio Cuadrado. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stanley Wallace in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juan Estevan Gerbella prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Universidad de Chile's Juan Estevan Gerbella played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kyle Davies in the 8th minute of play. In the 12th minute of the match, Hernán Pablo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Bruno Barrett was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 15th minute, Hernán Pablo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Bruno Barrett. The goal made the score 1-0. In the 19th minute Kyle Davies shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Estevan Gerbella saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juan Ferreccio was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 25th minute. Universidad de Chile's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Hernán Pablo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bruno Barrett having to make a save. 33 minutes into the match, Universidad de Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Stanley Wallace came free, but Juan Estevan Gerbella reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 34th match minute, Universidad de Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hernán Pablo to maneuver through the defense. After 35 minutes, Troy Kennedy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Curacao and the Universidad de Chile players grew even worse after the yellow card. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kyle Davies to strike the kick off in the second half. Stanley Wallace sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Eladio Rubio fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Universidad de Chile's protests and gave Eladio Rubio a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Curacao booed when Universidad de Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eladio Rubio didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Lochlan Newman came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Curacao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lochlan Newman couldn't finish the play. Universidad de Chile's Juan Ferreccio suffered a concussion in the 82nd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. 82 minutes into the game, Charles Cox was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Curacao's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Universidad de Chile the free kick. The supporters of Universidad de Chile booed when Curacao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Charles Cox didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eladio Rubio missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 85 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Bruno Barrett right hand side. In the 88th minute Hernán Pablo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Barrett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Universidad de Chile's Hernán Pablo got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
