The Peru fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Pierluigi Buffon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lluis Companys got free with Rolando Noboa in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pierluigi Buffon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Noel Hargrave in the 44th minute. After the first half Peru were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The supporters of Peru booed when KaoS Futbol Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Noel Hargrave didn't get a good kick on the ball. Peru were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
