The referee ignored Deportivo Balvanera's protests and gave Florencio Oxarra a yellow card for diving instead. In the 20th match minute, Deportivo Balvanera was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Florencio Oxarra to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Abel Neron was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 84th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Neron saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85th minute of the match, Felix Montenegro got a very nice opportunity to score, but Abel Neron was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Deportivo Balvanera's goalkeeper Abel Neron, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Daniel Zorita had several of the Deportivo Balvanera's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 94 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-3 score and a disappointed Abel Neron as he didn't even see the shot coming. Ecuador played a much better game than Deportivo Balvanera and deserved their victory. The Deportivo Balvanera players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
