Leonel Sanches might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adolfo Fernado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leonel Sanches ran back to his position shaking his head. 11 minutes into the match, Futbol Club RRFV's Leonel Sanches sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Adolfo Fernado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Dorival do Vale kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Adolfo Fernado. That made the score 2-0 in the 14 minute of play. In the 18th minute, Tomé Martins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simon Txaran in the 22nd minute of play forced Futbol Club RRFV's goalkeeper Diamantino Senna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half.
