An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 16th minute of play forced Santa Maradona's goalkeeper Jonathan Errapel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Santa Maradona's Miguel Transito in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Santa Maradona's Jonathan Errapel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 32nd minute of play. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 33th minute after Santa Maradona's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. The supporters of Santa Maradona booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luca Rouco didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Santa Maradona's zone, Alberto Tafalla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Errapel came out of the goal and Alberto Tafalla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Errapel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 39th minute of the match. 40 minutes into the match, Santa Maradona's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Jonathan Errapel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Errapel having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jonathan Errapel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 52nd minute of the match. Santa Maradona's Laureano Sustrai was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dante Lacasa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The Santa Maradona fans' excitement grew in the 83rd match minute when Santa Maradona's Laureano Sustrai looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Lautaro Mancebo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jonathan Errapel firmly grabbed it by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Santa Maradona's zone, Alberto Tafalla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Errapel came out of the goal and Alberto Tafalla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joel Gaona's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Errapel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 97th minute of play. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Santa Maradona were victorious despite being under pressure from Mexico for much of the match.
