Froilan Ponc kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. 25 minutes into the match, Mariolo's goal looked a bit too open when Augusto Cordario came free, but Eufrasio Vall reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mariolo's Eufrasio Vall played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augusto Cordario in the 25th minute of play. Arnoldo Mel hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Erwin Huygens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Umea Loza, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 34th minute, Augusto Cordario got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Erwin Huygens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Umea Loza in the 37th minute of play. Erwin Huygens stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Umea Loza's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. After 43 played minutes Velez Sarsfield got a freekick which was hit by Arnoldo Mel. Frederico Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Frederico Barros to strike the kick off in the second half. Eufrasio Vall took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augusto Cordario, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Erwin Huygens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frederico Barros in the 65th minute of play. Mariolo's Eufrasio Vall played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Filomeno Montrell in the 67th minute of play. The supporters of Velez Sarsfield booed when Mariolo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgar Iordănescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Filomeno Montrell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
