When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Silviu Miclea took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Jacobo Nores to make any attempt to save it. When Silviu Miclea came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Noia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silviu Miclea couldn't finish the play. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

If Durvalino Toscano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute, Durvalino Toscano made a precise shot to the right of Jacobo Nores. Paraguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 7-0. Norberto Villegas struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Jacobo Nores didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Noia. Jacobo Nores took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silviu Miclea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paraguay's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
