Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Doru Lițu went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Raio Piiroja might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Raio Piiroja ran back to his position shaking his head. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doru Lițu, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Evert Österlund in the 23rd minute. After having played for 30 minutes, Róbson Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The Beatles's supporters crossed their fingers, but Róbson Simões was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Beatles's Doru Lițu got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 33rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Rubio to maneuver through the defense. 34 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Doru Lițu. The audience was convinced that Doru Lițu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. In the 38th minute, The Beatles's Evert Österlund ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 5-0. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evert Österlund, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Axel Tasis was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evert Österlund in the 50th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54thth minute of the game Doru Lițu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. But to his dismay, Doru Lițu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. The Beatles's supporters rose to their feet, but Ulisses Gaspar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by The Beatles's Róbson Simões. But to his dismay, Róbson Simões quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zeca Brodel in the 75th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zeca Brodel in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zeca Brodel in the 80th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Zeca Brodel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. Frederico Messias replaced Evert Österlund. 90 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Róbson Simões came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 91st play minutes Zeca Brodel shot 10-0, a short shot which went by Benito Sanz and just under the crossbar into goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. The Beatles fully deserved thier win.
