Francisco Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 7 minutes into the game, Uruguay's Maximiliano Escribano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Horaţiu Petran made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After 10 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Seco. In the 12th minute, Alberto Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Uruguay's Arturo Carvallo quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Grigore Stoicu, made in the 17th minute of the game. Tito Montaño made in the 27th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Uruguay's Alberto Gisbert. Maximiliano Escribano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horaţiu Petran having to interfere. Walmir Breckenfeld struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Joaquin Gayoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gyál United. Horaţiu Petran stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francisco Seco's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. If Francisco Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 41 minutes into the match, Gyál United's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Seco came free, but Horaţiu Petran reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 46th minute, Jaime Cazalla sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Gyál United's Horaţiu Petran didn't even have to move. After the first half Uruguay were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Zoltán Varga made the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Francisco Seco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Horaţiu Petran was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. Jorge Sainz's late challenge caught a Gyál United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jorge Sainz helped the player get up and apologised. After 52 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Sainz. In the 54th minute, Francisco Seco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Horaţiu Petran was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Deivid Trigo in the 57th minute of play. After 58 played minutes Gyál United got a freekick which was hit by Miklós Páncsics. Horaţiu Petran was out of position in the 59 minute of play, and Francisco Seco capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Francisco Seco really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. If Walmir Breckenfeld had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alberto Gisbert kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Francisco Seco got free with Horaţiu Petran in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 69 minutes into the match, Uruguay's Francisco Seco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Horaţiu Petran narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Francisco Secos short, quick shot in the 71stth minute got Horaţiu Petran to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Zoltán Varga might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joaquin Gayoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zoltán Varga ran back to his position shaking his head. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Walmir Breckenfeld's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walmir Breckenfeld in the 80th minute of play. If Francisco Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Konstantinos Kroustallis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Grigore Stoicu kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Francisco Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Horaţiu Petran made a huge save. Uruguay played a much better game than Gyál United and deserved their victory. The Gyál United players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
