Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Santiago Mino started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 3 minutes into the game, Palermo's Arnoldo Medina nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. After having played for 13 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Santiago Mino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 25th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montenegro to maneuver through the defense. When Santiago Mino in the 26th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Julio Vera kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 2-0 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santiago Mino, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 38th minute, Palermo's Arnoldo Medina dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 43rd minute of play forced Palermo's goalkeeper Alfredo Joey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelino Chaime in the 53rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 54 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Saul Felo who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Palermo's corner Saul Felo fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Alfredo Joey in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnoldo Medina in the 60th minute of play. After 63 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alfredo Joey was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Ecuador booed when Palermo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maximino Gonzalez didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Palermo's Santiago Mino in the 78th minute got a chance for a shot 78th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Saul Felo kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. In the 87th minute, Sven-Arne Olsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Palermo's Alfredo Joey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Palermo from getting a goal against them. Palermo's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
