Guillermo Mariano didn't get a good kick on the ball. 18 minutes into the match, La Scaloneta's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Dibag Martinez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 20th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dibag Martinez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Dibag Martinez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. After 34 minutes of play, La Scaloneta's Leandro Paredes made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! La Scaloneta's Paulo Dybala got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Martinez in the 39th minute. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Lautaro Martinez sent off a good shot on target.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lion Messi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Ángel-Fabián Di María stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Ángel-Fabián Di María tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lautaro Martinez in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. Julián Álvarez succeeded in the game's 96th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-0.
