With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Gao Kun Mo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Emerson Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. 15 minutes into the match, São Paulo Leste F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Emerson Leão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Agustín Saelices fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emerson Leão having to interfere. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Coutinho in the 23rd minute of play. Emerson Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edvard Gråberg in the 27th minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, São Paulo Leste F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Emerson Leão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 48th minute, Gao Kun Mo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Julio Vera. The goal made the score 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 64 minutes into the match, São Paulo Leste F.C.'s Gao Kun Mo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 66 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edvard Gråberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 70 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Maximilian Mellberg was slow to take the kick. During this time São Paulo Leste F.C.'s players had a chance to rest. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edvard Gråberg in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. São Paulo Leste F.C.'s Emerson Leão proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save São Paulo Leste F.C. from getting a goal against them. 75 minutes into the match, São Paulo Leste F.C.'s goalkeeper Emerson Leão had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edvard Gråberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A hard shot 91 in the game by Daniel Zorita from a close distance when the talented Emerson Leão managed to make a qualified save. São Paulo Leste F.C.'s players were relieved. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edvard Gråberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emerson Leão having to interfere. Emerson Leão came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2.
