Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tadej Pogačar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. Henrik Larsson scored 1-0 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rolando Noboa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Decathlon Dudes's Tadej Pogačar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 42nd minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Dylan van Baarle in the 46th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Anthony Alvarado. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Julian Murillo made the kick off in the second half.
