After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Agustín Saelices was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Iwan Banaszak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fábio Messias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cecilio Fliz got free with Julio Vera in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cecilio Fliz who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 46thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Ecuador booed when £øs ρєłαdєirøs ®™ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cecilio Fliz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cecilio Fliz, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. After having played for 66 minutes, Fábio Messias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. £øs ρєłαdєirøs ®™'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Fábio Messias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Roberto Dinamite stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Roberto Dinamite tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Norberto Nascimento charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Norberto Nascimento the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Norberto Nascimento hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. In the 75th minute, Felix Montes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 79 played minutes £øs ρєłαdєirøs ®™ got a freekick which was hit by Fábio Messias. When £øs ρєłαdєirøs ®™'s Roberto Dinamite in 83 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Julio Vera guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. After 83 minutes, Roberto Dinamite made it 2-3 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.
