Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Edmílson Gaúcho kicked off to start the match. After 3 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. Garson Pfäffli kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. Edmílson Gaúcho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Arne Bengtsson in the 10th minute of play. In the 12th minute of the match Fire Devils got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Samuel Giger ran over to the corner to take the kick. Samuel Giger made a great header on Fire Devils's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 15th minute of play forced Fire Devils's goalkeeper Odysseus Lindenmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute of the game, Daniel Zorita landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Samuel Giger during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 19th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Odysseus Lindenmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig to fire away a dangerous shot which Odysseus Lindenmann despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Felix Montes hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmílson Gaúcho in the 22nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luz Palacio scored 0-1 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Odysseus Lindenmann, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 30 minutes into the game, Edmílson Gaúcho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmílson Gaúcho in the 34th minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmílson Gaúcho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Fire Devils booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Sancho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fire Devils's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Samuel Giger in the 47th minute. The corner led Fire Devils's Samuel Giger to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

With a little luck, Fire Devils's Odysseus Lindenmann got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sven-Arne Bengtsson went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Fire Devils's Dariusz Nalaskowski. But to his dismay, Dariusz Nalaskowski quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edmílson Gaúcho went, in the 62nd minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. Luz Palacio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 69 minutes into the game, Luz Palacio recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Odysseus Lindenmann. Luz Palacio showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 5-2. In the 73rd minute, Luz Palacio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Odysseus Lindenmann was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-3. Odysseus Lindenmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Odysseus Lindenmann. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Odysseus Lindenmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ismael Kalnik charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ismael Kalnik the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Fire Devils's Ismael Kalnik got a free kick in the 91st minute. Fire Devils's Edmílson Gaúcho got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
