Juan Rubio's late challenge caught a Coice de Mula's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juan Rubio helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Juan Rubio hit a great ball. William Neves took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by William Neves during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 20th match minute, Coice de Mula was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by William Neves to maneuver through the defense. In the 22nd minute, William Neves reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Benito Sanz. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Tasis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from William Neves, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After 57 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alan Moruga. Lautaro Puig hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Abel Carballo got a free kick in the 67th minute. In the 68th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Axel Tasis to maneuver through the defense. After 71 played minutes Coice de Mula got a freekick which was hit by Eugênio Travassos. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 74th minute of the game. One of Costa Rica:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Coice de Mula:s goal. Umberto Proença fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Coice de Mula's Luís Eduardo Rossi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Coice de Mula from getting a goal against them. 88 minutes into the match, William Neves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that William Neves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. After 91 minutes of play, Costa Rica's Axel Tasis made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luís Eduardo Rossi was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Coice de Mula's Jardel Mula in the 95th minute got a chance for a shot 95th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Coice de Mula had played much better football throughout.
