After 10 minutes, Clóvis Guedes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Coice de Mula and the Paraguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jacobo Nores was a little too slow when Jardel Mula got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 28th minute. The score was now 2-0. 37 minutes into the game, Fernando Lara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaime Pardo was the one to do the kick off. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by William Neves in the 91st minute of play. Claudinei Vieira made in the 95th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias.
