Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dorel Nedelciu started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Sergiu Coșeriu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 12 minutes, Dante Lacasa successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 16th minute Codrin Ionete shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joel Gaona's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gigel Tilea read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. In the 22nd minute, Sergiu Coșeriu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Academia Rio fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lautaro Mancebo in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gigel Tilea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 37th minute of play forced Academia Rio's goalkeeper Gigel Tilea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Academia Rio's Alex Nicolae got a free kick in the 39th minute. Gigel Tilea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 40th minute of play. When Alberto Tafalla came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Tafalla couldn't finish the play.

After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel Gaona was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gigel Tilea breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 54 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Luca Rouco. In the 58th minute Sergiu Coșeriu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Gigel Tilea in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 67 played minutes Academia Rio got a freekick which was hit by Mihai Oniga. Gigel Tilea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 75th minute by Lautaro Mancebo got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 80th minute after Academia Rio's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. Joel Gaona made a great header on Mexico's corner, it was just that Academia Rio's Gigel Tilea managed to reach the ball for a save. Academia Rio's Gigel Tilea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Academia Rio from getting a goal against them. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergiu Coșeriu in the 88th minute of the match. In the 91st minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. Facundo Cadaval hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Radu Păvăloae in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Gigel Tilea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sergiu Coșeriu's late challenge caught a Mexico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sergiu Coșeriu helped the player get up and apologised. The Mexico players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
