A collision led to Pegaso getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Abel Estavan hit a great ball. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Tafalla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Mihail Pânzaru kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dante Lacasa. That made the score 1-0 in the 11 minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel Gaona was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Loren Prats breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 16 minutes, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mihail Pânzaru in the 57th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Mihail Pânzaru's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Lacasa was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. Loren Prats made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 66th minute of play. Joel Gaona had several of the Pegaso's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 67 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-1 score and a disappointed Loren Prats as he didn't even see the shot coming. Loren Prats made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 77th minute. Loren Prats showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Joel Gaona succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-2 in the 81st playminute. After 86 played minutes Pegaso got a freekick which was hit by Silvano Endira. Alberto Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Mexico players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
