The USA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marco Day should have stopped the shot. Real Södertälje's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Reynaldo Cerezo in the 13th minute. Cassius Byrne's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carsten Eckstein read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Marco Day made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nils-Åke Wickander in the 86th minute of play. Nils-Åke Wickander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. USA made a substitution. Khalid Parry replaced Monty Rogers. USA's Marco Baker was substituted for Edward Mcdonald. With a little luck, Real Södertälje's Carsten Eckstein got control of the ball when Sam Campbell tried to sneak it across the goal line. 96 minutes into the game, Conny Komen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Real Södertälje's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave USA the free kick. The Real Södertälje support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
