Fanis Geronimidis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Belotaurus FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rui Cunha kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 23rd minute of play forced Belotaurus FC's goalkeeper Fanis Geronimidis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fanis Geronimidis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Evren Yezid could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silviu Novac, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

After having played for 56 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fanis Geronimidis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 61st minute of play. Belotaurus FC's Fanis Geronimidis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 65th minute of play. In the 68th minute Evren Yezid shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Belotaurus FC getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Evren Yezid hit a great ball. With his leg Fanis Geronimidis managed to avoid a goal in the 71stth minute, when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play.
