With a couple of smart ball manuevers Axel Tasis in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Max Sevier saved FC Lugano from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Tasis in the 14th minute of play forced FC Lugano's goalkeeper Max Sevier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matteo Gartenmann kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. 18 minutes into the match, FC Lugano's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but Max Sevier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Gauthier Lepre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The throw-in from Hugo Ferrant in the 24th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FC Lugano's Maximilian Buser. FC Lugano's attentive Fidelio Haller managed to snatch the ball when Efrain Moruga made a throw-in in the 28th minute of the game. FC Lugano's attentive Matteo Gartenmann managed to snatch the ball when Hugo Ferrant made a throw-in in the 30th minute of the game. FC Lugano's attentive Maximilian Buser managed to snatch the ball when Hugo Ferrant made a throw-in in the 34th minute of the game. Benito Sanz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Maximilian Buser showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 34 minute of play. Max Sevier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Axel Tasis, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. 42 minutes into the game, Hugo Ferrant threw the ball into play from the sideline. FC Lugano's Matteo Gartenmann quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The throw-in from Hugo Ferrant in the 43rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FC Lugano's Matteo Gartenmann. Max Sevier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Tasis in the 46th minute of play.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Axel Tasis got free with Max Sevier in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 54 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Abel Carballo. A sloppy throw-in by Efrain Moruga in the 57th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by FC Lugano's Fidelio Haller. The supporters of FC Lugano booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaron Alcocer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gauthier Lepre, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by FC Lugano's Odysseus De Souza. But to his dismay, Odysseus De Souza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. FC Lugano's Fidelio Haller quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Efrain Moruga, made in the 66th minute of the game. Odysseus De Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in FC Lugano's zone, Lautaro Puig stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Max Sevier came out of the goal and Lautaro Puig tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Hugo Ferrant got a free kick in the 72nd minute. In the 76th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lautaro Puig to maneuver through the defense. 80 minutes into the game, one of FC Lugano:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Max Sevier, was totally fooled by Costa Rica's Axel Tasis, who 83 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. FC Lugano's Odysseus De Souza quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Juan Rubio, made in the 93rd minute of the game. Odysseus De Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Eliseo Noboa fell near the penalty area in the 97th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Eliseo Noboa a yellow card for diving instead.
