Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Horácio Larreta ran over to the corner to take the kick. If Lv Xiao Zhi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 28th minute of play forced Roncourt's goalkeeper Mounir Perry to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When J.P. Kapar came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Roncourt fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that J.P. Lv Xiao Zhi ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lv Xiao Zhi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 53rd minute, Lv Xiao Zhi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Roncourt fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Lv Xiao Zhi struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Roncourt. The audience was convinced that Lv Xiao Zhi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 60th minute of the game.
